The temple and its place in Puri
The Puri district administration identifies Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra as the principal deities and Puri as one of the four dhamas. Its account dates the present monumental temple to the twelfth century and associates its construction with the Ganga ruler Ananta Varman Chodaganga Deva. These facts explain the temple’s central place in the city; they do not establish a modern booking product or a guaranteed visitor timetable.
Heritage and a living place of worship
The district describes the temple’s Kalinga architecture. An architectural interest and a devotional visit can be different purposes, so tell companions which matters most before setting the outing. For a station or airport connection, agree a leaving limit before the outing. State whether the car waits or provides a drop only. The transport plan should support the temple visit without pretending to control queues, rituals or road restrictions.
